Unexpected casualty

In retaliation to my boss E declaration of paycut for high salaried staff, my Hong Kong colleague P tendered his resignation recently. I only knew of it this morning when my boss asked me to go to the meeting room secretly (for what? since we were having teleconversation) to break the news.

And of course, the Wondergirl in office has to take over ALL his portfolio. Ok, my boss did not instruct but nicely asked if I have free time to take it up. He did hint of pay raise but than rebutt himself by saying see how, since company having financial hardship.

I said I would try, and spent the whole afternoon learning from P about his work which is more on auditing than QS role. Headache... alot of donkey work to reconcile figures and I have to ask him for more staff under me to help me do it.
