The air in the office as I walked into this morning was 18 degrees.
Joking...
The casualties of the retrenchment exercise are still reeling in over the after shocks of being axed. Especially since few of them have only been recently employed and some of them have been with my boss E for quite a long time. Never would they expect to be retrench. And 2 of them are supposed to be the future head of 2 project management and design units.
The one who is feeling very bitter among the group is Ms L who crossed over from the old company. She had 8 years with the company and is the longest service to date. Honestly from my point as a third party, her job is really too good to be true. As an admin manager, she does too little thing, and only help ordering air-ticket, order water, fix up the cable/internet, buy computer and install program, period. For most of the time, she was doing nothing except read English books and surf net.
The same goes for another old staff H who came from the prestigious Tong Ji University. I had crossed sword with him so I know that he is another one who procrastinate and try to do nothing. According to B his project manager on site, H is surfing net all day. So lesson learnt, when the axe falls, you must ask yourself why? Why you and not others?
With the exception of role duplication. Age. I think the answer is very obvious.
Me myself, I am also counting down. Although I do enjoy the freedom in the company, but I doubt E capability to turn it around. In the first place, he is not cut out as a general manager. His judgement and decision making skill sucks big time, which is why the company is in this current state.
Meanwhile I shall not stress myself and continue my work gaining more experience on my project until the time comes for me to leave. B, my only other Singapore colleague is already looking for job. So much for loyalty.
